Meal Review

While I enjoy cooking from scratch, sometimes it is just nice to have a quick easy meal. So when scanning the aisles of the local grocery store, this meal by Bertolli looked like it would be pretty good. I purchased it for about $8 dollars and kept it the freezer for a lazy late night meal.

That time came yesterday as I was busy until about 8:00 PM and was starving with my girlfriend due to arrive home around 8:30. I pulled it out of the freezer and was reassured because it claimed it would be ready in just 10 minutes. I emptied the bag into the pan and was surprised at the amount of green stuff. I say green stuff because it was basically in little blocks and was indistinguishable from spinach, which we eventually concluded it was. True to the package it cooked extremely quickly and smelled great.

When it was ready to eat, as you can see in the picture, there were still large clumps of green stuff. I have never really enjoyed cooked vegetables and was worried that these green clumps would ruin my enjoyment. I was starving though, so as i attacked my plate I realized the green stuff was so full of flavoring that it was hard to even tell when I was eating it.

Overall the meal was great for the money and really hit the spot at the time. It was fast, convenient, and relatively cheap. The package only contains two servings, so it is not great to feed a family. As a matter of fact, it was barely enough for two and i suggest grabbing a loaf of garlic bread like I did to complement the meal and help fill you up.

A while back, when we weren't cooking a lot, my wife and I tried some of the Bertolli dinners for two. Chicken Florintine was one of them. It was OK once in a while but you couldn't eat it too often.

Good review of the product, but you seem a little ambivalent at the end in regards to whether you like or dislike the product. Based on the amount for the price and your description, I would not buy this product, but then again, I have an aversion to processed food.
